When we previously spoke about Womanchester and our idea to get together the best and brightest female networks in the city, we had big dreams.
International Women's Day is a date that should be in any diversity champion's calendar, and it had been circled in ours since November of last year. We're lucky enough to live in a city with a strong community, and we wanted to pull it together to bring topics of inclusion and representation to the forefront of conversation.
We wanted Manchester's residents to think about how THEY could play a part in bringing about Gender Parity sooner, and how they can empower future generations of female leaders. And so, WoManchester was born; a weeks worth of stimulating content, inspiring events, pop-ups and celebrations that truly placed Manchester on the map as one of the best cities to foster female talent.
With a little help from our friends, Marketing Manchester and The Big Partnership, we were able to spread the word and RENAME THE CITY.
Everyone from Manchester Airport, to Manchester City Football Club, to key venues (hello, Manchester Central) rebranded themselves "WoManchester" to mark 8th March 2018, a collective stunt that sparked collaboration, debate, and of course a dash of controversy. You'll probably have seen Business Sorority -and our Founder's face- splashed across local news (if not, check out some of the coverage below). You'll have to forgive us for bragging about this, but if our mission was to make our city aware of IWD2018, it's fair to say we smashed it.
